Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this exercise? I have tried them and am unsure if there for me or not.
They are in PYTP, but I've read conflicting advice about their effect on the knees, as nearly all movemnet is centred on the knee joint in this exercise.

Thanks Dave

I believe any form of squat centers on the knee joint. If you have problems with sissy squats but not other squats, it could signal an imbalance or lack of flexibility. Or you could have a past injury that is being aggravated by the movement.

Like with all exercises, you should stop at the point of pain. Pain is an alarm. So if sissy squats are causing pain in your knees, you shouldn't do them. If they're just difficult, that probably means you're just working your legs in a way you're not use to.

Dave;

Don't just go by the name ....the sissy is tough! If you go real slow and use proper form, you will feel it in the thighs big time.

The quads are particularly emphasized with Sissy Squats esp. if you use a Sissy Squat Bench or a homemade equivalent where you can increase the ROM handsfree. Yeah, extreme Sissies stress the knee big time so slowly increase the ROM
