Ive always wanted to write a book.My problem is that sometimes i think i have to many ideas.I epitomise what Taoist call the Monkey Mind.Always swinging from thought to thought.Thats one of the reasons im very big on meditation because it helps still my mind and achive better clarity of thought.Anyways im just hoping that you could throw some tips out there on how best to go about writting a book.Since your a vet in the game with quite a few out there already and you always put out super high quality i figured id hit you up for advice.

Also i was thinking of just calling you or PM you but then i figured that with all the smart guys on here with ideas of there own it would be best for this to be some public info. You never know who might be inspird and pen a literary classic themselves. One guy on here that i really like his post is Royce.Since hes into alot of Chinese Medicine as well i always love to read what he has to say.Who knows maybe hell wright a Chi Gung/Transformetrics Hybrid book after reading your tips,i know id buiy it.

I know i rambled on a bit but back to the point, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've only written a few books, the secret is first and last planning and research; sounds like you have the research and background already. First step is to think about, your goals, purpose and what you want to teach then write an outline of your book, reducing it to paper lets your idea's mature and grow. Then outline each chapter, what you want to say, what the important points will be. the better the outline the better your book. As you write; the outline can be fleshed out and your book is there. I wrote factual reports for my job and that gave me training I needed.

Dark Knight,

I've never written a book, although I used to do short stories and magazine and newspaper articles. The main advice I can give is write, write, and write; as well as read, read, and read. You'll find a style of writing that suits your personality. This forum is a good place to practice.

Mike's advice on researching and organizing your topic is good. Which brings us to another point Mikey my secretive, low profile friend - I would like to read your books! Do you mind sending me a PM and letting me know how I can do so?

In the early 1970s I wrote and published a book on real estate investing. It is a very rewarding experience, but prior to doing it I had no idea of the amount of time and effort that it requires.

Hey Black Knight,

You have received some great advice already. But obviously you need to have a beginning and an appropriate ending. Once you have determined these two things you then need to determine the progression between beginning and ending. Sometimes the toughest part is to determine what not to include as well what is most essential. Anyway, please feel free to give me a call, I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
