Hi everyone

As you know i have flitted through quite a few different workouts over the past few months, but last week i started doing combat conditioning style workout.

Firstly i think the ting that needs to be dropped is the wrestlers angle of it, as i do karate and kickboxing.

Secondly, the question i have to ask myself is can the workout be done like a bodybuilding routine, i.e. with sets and reps. Tha answer is YES.

So here is my workout as i have done it this week:

tuesday 3rd august.

This workout done as a tri set: All 3 exercises are done one after the other with no rest, i have a minute rest between sets.
1) hindu squats: 50 reps.
2) jumping hindu squats: 40 reps.
3) jumpimg lunges: 10 reps, each leg.

All done for 3 sets.

friday 5th august.

Only 1 exercise today.
1) handstand pushups: 8 sets of 10 reps.
2) extended range handstand pushups: 3 sets 0f 2 reps/ i held onto pushup handles, so a little elevation of the hands.

All done for now.

Keith, 2 sets of 50 hindu push-ups, that is great, still cant get to 50 reps yet, how did you get to that? my shoulders seem to give out after 35 reps, I have been focusing on the trinty of health and fitness, that great dvd that John has and I really like it, I have also started bridging, and my back feels great after, how do you like the hindu squats? I like the cardio effect that I get doing them, keep up the great work, your doing a great job, take care.

Hi dynogoalie 30

Very sorry for the late reply. I found that when i din't do Hindu pushups for a while and then i got back into them i was doing sets of 25 to 30 reps, i just tried to improve each time i did them , even if it was just by 1 rep, to me that was progress.

I hope to get John's Trinity of Health dvd one day, i would love to have a go at following the workout section. I love Hindu Squats, my thighs feel as if they have been through a huge, hour plus workout, and i have only trained them for 15 to 20 minutes at the most.

You are right about the cardio effect, i am breathing heavy at the end of them. I also try to improve on these at least each workout.

I must make a note here that even though i try to improve on my reps each workout sometimes i cannot, so i stick to the reps from my last workout until i can improve on them.

Hope your training is going good and it's nice to hear from you, all the best.

I was reading the Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee. But he lists the Hindu Squats and the Hindu Pushups as some of the first exercises that he performed. Hulu had an interesting Korean Drama Series on the Legend of Bruce Lee. I lost a lot of sleep watching it.

But he used those 2 exercises apparently as staples in his exercise routine.
