Many people say that isometrics have no value for sport activities and are not the choice of champions.
Please take a look at these two studies:

http://www.find-health-articles.com/rec_pub_17685695-plyometric-vs-isometric-training-influences-tendon-properties-muscle.htm

I think isometrics must be included at the training of all athletes especially those who need jumping ability and explosiveness.

Hey Guys,

As douglis points out, many people are W-R-O-N-G and are making stupid assertions with no experience to back them up. Nothing can convince you more than proving it to yourself.

In my book Isometric Power Revolution I made reference to professor James F Baley. He was one of America's foremost Isometric researchers. He believed that Isometrics were superior to all other forms of strength training in terms of athletic conditioning. His book, "Illustrated Guide to Developing Athletic Strength, Power, and Agility" is a masterpiece from 1977. Although Professor Baley included a full and comprehensive weight training section in his book he stated this about Isometrics performed with an Isometric Power Belt (with which I have personally been training daily with superb results and which I will be marketing very soon.)

Here is what professor Baley states on page 37:

" A considerably greater variety of exercises are possible (with the Isometric Belt) than can be done with barbells and dumbbells. There is also a considerable saving in both time and money. The cost of the belt is insignificant in comparison to the cost of a barbell set or Universal Gym. The same results can be achieved in a twenty-five minute session with the Isometric Belt as can in a two hour session with barbells."

I learned about the Isometric belt from two men that were 1) a welter weight and 2)a middle weight fighters serving time in prison back in 1989(they were Chaplains assistants and I was there ministering with evangelist Big Chick Huntsberry). They were both champion boxers and martial artists in that prison. These men did "Dynamic Tension" and "Isometrics" and both were ripped to the bone.

Rush out & attempt to buy Baley's out of print book. You'll find numerous ways to perform isometrics/static contractions

Andy
I assume the Power Belt is what we received as Iso Kit testers

As an aside, I just got this book off Amazon and its really excellent.

Can't wait for the iso kit, Jon. Using my split jungle gym is too awkward.

Anyone who receives a Powerbelt will soon realize it has applications beyond isometrics - eg suspend the webbing loop & perform "gymnastic ring" ISOTONICS
Also the webbing allows you to overload your upperbody muscles against the resistance of your lowerbody muscles

As a bonus, the belt folds up compactly for easy travellin'

This may be the ultimate step in the evolution of exercise equipment. Its compact and portable nature speak to changes in our life styles. Today more and more people live in multifamily housing whether apartments, condominiums or other forms of cooperative units. Even individual houses that are currently being built have less storage, common area, and garage space to put exercise equipment in. Isometrics are proving to be superior and less injury provoking than gravity oriented and larger types of exercise machines. Gyms are a form of retail activity and with the changes in the economy all forms of retail are contracting. This is the perfect product at the perfect time for a variety of reasons.

I was very fortunate to have received one of the prototype belt/isosizers and have been using it to do the 12 exercises that I used to do with the minute a day isometric exerciser I got back in the 60s. Over the years I’ve made several replacements, some out of ropes, some out of chains, and some out of straps. They worked fine but John’s is better and better looking than what I made. I like it and look forward to when the updated and finalized model is available.
