View Full Version : Flouride
I know that this is not the typical Transformetrics type thread, but it is health related. We have all been told that fluoride is good for your teeth - hardens the enamel to protect you from cavities. But I have been hearing that there are a lot of unhealthy issues with fluoride (from sources like Dr. Stan Montieth on the radio). I cannot remember any specifics (maybe a side effect of too much fluoride intake over the years. :act-up:)
Do any of you have opinions or knowledge on this matter?

I read in one of the Fit For Life books (I believe the second one) by Harvey Diamond that the use of fluoride originated from a surplus of metals (?) and this was a way to pass it off and make money. Sounds a little conspiracy theory, but if you read the story it is rather convincing.
I would avoid it. If you are in an area that flouridates the water supply, it can be removed with Reverse Osmosis, Distillation, and some specialty filters.
Even if it has any benefits, dosing our water supply is a crude way of delivering substances, and there is no protection against overdose by those who drink more water than others. The effects of flouride overdose are not pretty, and you can search the web for more information.

I know there is a lot of quack science on the Internet that really tears up fluoride. I've read enough of it that I've discerned that there is enough reason to be suspicious of it and I therefore avoid it. It's not in my water and my dentist doesn't give it to me. My toothpaste is free of fluoride. This has been 5 years now and so far no cavities.
The things I"ve read about fluoride concerm me about Alzheimers. We seem to have a much higher rate than Europe who has largely discontinued forced fluoridation to the water supply. Is there a provable link? I don't know. Aluminum is another concern too. I have not found a good deodorant yet that is aluminum free.
Thanks, it sounds like I am not crazy to be suspicious of it.
