Thought is the creative force of the universe and it is a power that we all possess and can develop.

It can be projected internally to shape and strengthen our bodies or externally to move or affect physical matter or other people.

Focused Muscular Tension is the key to internally directing this power to empower all of our personal forces.

Right on, well said!

Thanks for making me aware of Charles Garfield in your earlier posts. I managed to get hold of an audio cassette tape interview he did with New Dimensions on Peak Performance.

Here's some of my notes from the interview entitled Good, Better, Best.

Peak Performance Definition: "People who are committed to going way beyond anything they've done historically. People who value achievement in the service of a mission they care about."

They interviewed over a period of 18 years, 1500 extraordinary performers (Herschel Walker was one of them) in various fields such as business, arts, science, medicine, sports etc. What they found is that across the board, no matter the field, there is a particular, predictable set of skills that the people who do extraordinarily well will exhibit. They are as follows...

1) MISSION: Being powerfully committed to something that makes a difference, that matters to them.

2) GOALS: Clear goals, stepping stones toward completing their mission. Short, intermediate and long term goals that excite them.

3) FEEDBACK: Who do you have in your life, 2 or 3 people, that can provide you with accurate, useful information? Mentors, coaches, teachers.

4) RESOURCES: The raw materials to do what you do extraordinarily well. Training, education, support (friends/family), personal attitude and habits. It's an inventory of what's needed to take what your doing to a higher level.

5) REWARDS: What do you hope to achieve? What do you hope to get out of this as an end product? The peak performer has clarity around rewards.

This is powerful stuff that can transform every aspect of your life.

I first came across these concepts in the 1950s when as a teenager I was introduced to them in the Charles Atlas Course. It was every bit as revolutionary in the mind control concepts that it included as it was in the Focused Muscular Tension exercises that provided the pathways that made the whole mind/body tie in work and it was all part of what Atlas learned from Alois P. Swoboda.

Remember that Charles Atlas lived a charmed life with all of the right people and situations appearing just as he needed them to advance his career to the next level - Doctor Frederick Tilney, Bernarr MacFadden, Charles Roman etc which was all part of the personal magnetism taught by Swoboda in his Conscious Evolution course.

While I really didn't experience and develop the full potential of FMT until years later when I was faced with overwhelming business and personal problems, I always remembered some of those earlier concepts from the Atlas Course such as the following:

" Put concentrated effort into each movement and perform all your exercises with a will. Think strength into the parts involved. Think power. Think the muscles are growing larger, stronger, and more beautiful, while you are exercising.

Saturate your life with noble, lofty plans, ideas, and ambitions and you will have no time, or desire to worry."
THE CHARLES ATLAS COURSE
