As If It Were . . .

As If It Were . . .

All that is necessary to break the spell of inertia and frustration is this: Act as if it were impossible to fail. This is the talisman, the formula, the command of right-about-face that turns us from failure towards success.—Dorthea Brande

This quote has been a source of power and inspiration for me so many times throughout my life. Think of it: act as though it were impossible to fail! To put it another way, what would you dare to do if you knew beyond a shadow of doubt that you could not fail? Just what changes would you want to make in mind, body, and spirit if you knew your success was guaranteed? Fascinating to consider, isn’t it. William James, the Harvard scholar, psychologist, physiologist, and philosopher, paraphrased all of this perfectly when he said, “Act the part and you will become the part.” Bottom line: see yourself as, and act is if, you are the greatest success, and it is impossible for you to fail.
