Threshold: Necessary Isometric Intensity

Hello Everyone,

The word "threshold" as defined by the dictionary is:

Quote:

"Threshold: The magnitude or intensity that must be exceeded for a certain reaction, phenomenon, result, or condition to occur or be manifested."

As relates to 'Isometric' strength building exercise it refers to the level of intensity that MUST be achieved in order to create the desired physiological response of increased S-T-R-E-N-G-T-H.

From the years 1946 to 1961 the phenomenon of Isometric exercise was studied and quantified in detail by the Max Planck Institute in Dortmund, Germany. You'll find the entire story in my book "Isometric Power Revolution". The reason Isometric strength training was studied in such exacting detail was because there were tens of thousands of men returning home from WWII that had various injuries that needed rehabilitation in order to regain use of their limbs and return to productive society. Nowhere was this more evident than in Germany. The problem the German medical establishment was faced with was that there was an extreme shortage of both equipment and personnel to conduct standard rehabilitation procedures. This was the reason for the focus on Isometric Strength Training to be used in place of standard rehabilitation procedures. Long story short: In thousands of clinical trials Isometric Training outperformed standard rehabilitation therapy by such a wide margin that there really was no comparison. It was for this reason that Isometric training was studied in such exacting detail for more than a decade and a half at the Max Planck Institute.

Naturally, the therapists wanted to know exactly what the necessary stimulus was in order to create the strength adaptation and it was studied taking into mind every conceivable variable.

The RESULT: The 'Threshold' of benefit for creating the strength adaptation was determined to be 66.666% of maximum strength for a period of at least 6 seconds. NOTE: this was the threshold for creating the strength adaptation only. When studied it became clear that only one maximum contraction was necessary to create the desired adaptation and that more repetitions DID NOT increase the strength response. In terms of frequency it was determined to be once daily.

The reason I am mentioning the above is because although the 'threshold' is true as relates to strength it has no real bearing on the intensity, duration, and frequency necessary to create the muscle sculpting adaptation that so many men want to achieve in a bare minimum of time.

It is the muscle strengthening as well as muscle sculpting benefits that we will be discussing on our forum with the release of new products. As each of YOU develop your own best result producing programs I hope you will share them with us so that everyone can benefit. Believe me, it will be extraordinary what you will be reading here in the months and years to come.
