Unfortunately, the last couple hurricanes/super storms in Jersey have reduced the fitness stations to a shambles. The county may replace them at some point, but for now its a mess.

If you find them problematic for your shoulder. try it on chairs where you can control how close together "the bars" are. Also this lets you adjust the angle somewhat.

Regarding Gaines, he also wrote an Atlasesque workout book called Staying Hard that I have somewhere in my stack o' literature. It was pretty good.
