Hey Friends,

I received an e-mail from a man that claims to be a Christian and is asking me why pornography is a sin since it is not listed specifically as a sin in the Bible. He tells me that he and his wife enjoy watching porn together in order to heighten their sexual desire for each other
. What's the matter with that?

Let me just say this.

Why would anybody ask me if something is a sin or if I care if he felt secure in his own belief? Here's the point. There isn't a single verse that I am aware of that specifically says pornography is a sin. BUT there are plenty of verses that warn us about the devastating effects of unbridled lust. It even happened King David, his son Solomon, Samson the judge, and many other Biblical heroes. In every case it was it was source of long term pain and suffering.

Here's my point. The only purpose for porn is to instill and magnify lust that is already present just as it is in every man. Young men especially look at porn to masturbate. That's it's purpose. But it doesn't end there. Porn causes people to not be satisfied with what they have and to want to experience things that they would never otherwise desire. I consider porn to be like any other drug in that it can become a source of enslavement just like cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, meth amphetamine or any other enslavement.

Here's the bottom line: I'm not condemning anybody. Nobody needs to worry about me because I'm not the arbitrator of righteousness. GOD IS! Nonetheless, I will say this, anything that enslaves us weakens us. Whether it's drugs, alcohol, food, sex or even an addiction to adrenalin. When you are enslaved to anything you are no longer free and it can cause you to compromise yourself and act in ways that are irrational that you would never otherwise do.

Matthew 5:27-28 (NASB)
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY';
28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Seems pretty clear to me!

While reading JP's post, I immediately thought of the same Scripture that Pizzaman quoted.

Also from the book of Proverbs it goes something like, "...regocijate con la mujer de tu juventud...su amor te embriague para siempre...?por que has de embriagarte con una extrana?" Which is approximately "be joyful with the wife of your youth...may her love excite you always...how could you let yourself be excited by a strange woman?"

It's my experience that, when I want something forbidden, it's my human nature to look away from the truth and rationalize my desire.

I've studied the Marian apparitions of Bayside, NY; Necedah, Wisconsin; Ecuador; Illinois; and, of course, the famous ones at Fatima, Guadalupe and Lourdes. At the Bayside, NY apparitions, Mary has a LOT to say about pornography and none of it is good.

She calls it filth and says we must clean up the schools and libraries. She says parents are responsible for the souls of their children and they will be held accountable if they do not raise them in a Godly way. She says more people go to hell for sins of the flesh than for any other reason. She says immodest dress creates sin both in the person dressed, as well as the ones who are tempted to sin when they see her or him.

She also says abortion is murder and anyone who participates in it will have to answer for their sins in the afterlife. She says we have made sin a way of life in this country, and our government and media are corrupt and infiltrated by satan.

Believe me, if you read some of the things She says, you'll never want to look at pornography again.
