There are a number of ways to psych yourself up for an important encounter or event. They include visualization, auto suggestion, positive affirmations, etc. One of the most effective, least conspicuous, and fastest ways to do it is by using isometrics. Frank Rudolph Young mentions a situation where a salesman before an important sales call would inconspicuously flex his tricep under his shirt to psychologically prepare himself for the call. This gave him confidence and put him in a more aggressive mood. Alois P. Swoboda also mentions flexing your muscles in a very short session of as little as two minutes to accomplish the same result. The next time that you are facing some very challenging or even intimidating situation try doing a few isometric contractions and see how much it relaxes you and inproves your performance with the increased confidence that results.

Good Idea Andy - Thanks.

I even thought of another benefit, by performing some quick ISOs you also can mentally associate the upcoming experience with something you enjoyed in the past. The Body / Mind connection is a really key to a successful life!

Thanks!

b38, You bring up an important point. Why in the world should this science be limited to just some physical goals?. Transformetrics and specifically Isometrics, DVR/VRT, and Power Flexing can train you for the total "game of life" and every part of it. Thought direction to a previous successful experience is one element or you can take it further and visualize success with an experience where you have not had success in the past. It is all about the limitations that have been trained into all of us during our conditioning or socialization. The secret is to break through those limiting messages and inhibitions and release the power of our subconscious mind. There is no better way to do that than to combine those mind/body techniques with positive imaging of your desired result. "Keep your mind on the things that you want and off of the things that you don't want." That is Alois P. Swoboda pure and simple.

Mike, I actually believe that Isometrics are the most individually empowering training that an individual can do. They are the only body/mind training system that I have come across that similtaneously trains your body, mind, and emotions. I can easly visualize, in my mind's eye, Alexander Zass straining against the bars of his jail cell while at the same time visualizing his escape and preparing himself for the many challenges he would face once he was free. Taking it from visualization to actualization.

Zass is a perfect example someone who got lemons and made lemonaide! He took a tragedy and made it into an asset! Mind & Body training, I really think that you and John are teaching American Yoga, in 500 years that is what people will call it.

Hey Guys,

Read "Les Miserables". Some of you that don't know may be surprised that author Victor Hugo was in complete agreement about what is being stated in this thread. Hugo refers to Isometrics as a "mysterious system of statics" certain prisoners used to attain super human strength of mind and body.
