Tomorrow is the first day of the 2011 Pull-up Challenge.
Today, you should have performed your max and calculated your pyramid.
Here is what we will do.
Post to this thread once including your before picture and first max set.
Then, when you want to add a day's activity, go to your post and click on edit and add your information.
This way, we won't have hundreds of posts to go through to see each other's progress.

Here is how I will be posting my pyramids. My last max was 24, therefore my pyramid would start with 7 and go to 19. I will post the workout like this.

My max reps today is 10.My pyramid will be 3-8-3 a total of 58 reps.I will add the other 39 reps with differant grips.My measurements are as follows: Forearms;11''; Biceps,unflexed 12 1/4'', flexed 13 7/8''; Chest normal 40'', expanded 41''
This at a height of 5'11'' and 178lbs.

Hey Tim. Yesterday I did a set of 15 to failure so my pyramid will be 5 - 12 - 5. For a total of 124 reps. I hope the picture I posted is good enough. I wanted to have a picture of me in the middle of a pull up rep.

Jan 1 Workout - 100-100 tried to do a full 5-12-5 pyramid but was only able to reach 100 reps instead of 124. Still happy with that though.
Jan 2 Workout - 100-200 definitely feeling it in my forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders, neck, chest, and back! Still only made it to 100 with my pyramid but I am satisfied with that.
Jan 3 Workout - 100-300 still really feeling it in all of the same places! Managed to do 100 again.
Jan 4 Workout - 104-404 still really sore. Was able to get to 104 today.
Jan 5 Workout - 104-508 Did another solid 104 today.
Jan 6 Workout - 100-608 hardly any soreness at all now. Did 100 more pull ups.
Jan 7 Workout - 125-733 completed a total of 125.
Jan 8 Workout - 125-858 completed another 125.
Jan 9 Workout - 125-983 completed a total of 125. Grand total of 983 so far.
Jan 10 Workout - 125-1108 completed another 125.
Jan 11 Workout - 125-1233 another 125.
Jan 12 Workout - 125-1358 did another 125 with the beginnings of a cold coming on.
Jan 13 Workout - 125-1483 did another 125 pull ups with a full cold. I don't think this cold will last long though.

Hi Guys,
I have done my max set, sadly I only managed 11, and I did 'kip' for the last two or three.
A lot of this is due to my weight....which is still too much. On the plus side, my upper arms measure 18", and my expanded chest is 46......my gut is still far too big. I am 5'9" tall.

I started to workout in the morning before work - 10 sets of 4.
And in the evening I do the pyramid workout.
I finish both workouts with 10 close grip fast chinups.

The main challenge for me is to exercise every day.
I am regular to workout 3-4 times a week.
I am glad I passed the 1000 mark.

I encountered two problems so far. One - I use a pull up bar that is located in a park 5min from my house. When it is raining it is a problem to workout. and two - I wanted to workout twice a day. In the morning before work, and then in the evening. The problem is that sometimes I had unexpected things todo, so I worked out only once in those days. I do not know if I will reach the number 3000 but I am doing my best. This last week I will try and work hard.

I just hit the 3000 mark. In the last week I did two daily sessions. One in the morning, and one pyramid in the evening. Overall I feel great. My right elbow is a bit sore. Thank you for making this challange!! I need to find a new challange for next month.

Hi Men,

Good luck to everyone. Expecially to Danny who is new here. You guys are going to embark on a challenge that will radically change your appearance.

A word of caution though. Be careful on your pullups. Don't bottom out thinking you have to get that extra stretch. Watch John's videos on pullups. There are here on the forum. His form is good to emulate. He doesn't bottom out and he doesn't bounce or swing his pullups.

Everyone remember the race between the tortoise and the hare. It is the getting there that is important, not who is the fastest.

As of a few minutes ago, my max is 11. I took two days off on purpose from pullups before testing.

Measurements are relaxed

Height 6'3"
Weight 206 lbs.
Bodyfat abt 13% per the Navy calculation
Chest 43 3/8"
Arm (mid bicep) 13"
Forearm 12"

Starting Pyramid will be 3-8-3 - 58 reps...so I need another 42+ each day...which I will do as chin up grip I suppose.

01/01/2011 Took me a little over 37 minutes to do the first pyramid. The 7 and 6 on the way down weren't consecutive. Took a bit of a breather and did a chin up pyramid of 1-7-1. 58 pullups + 36 chin ups +11 from today's max test = 105.
01/02/2011 Pullups Pyramid 3-8-3 in a little over 30 minutes. Chinup Pyramid 1-7-1 in 23 minutes. 107 reps total
01/03/2011 Pullups Pyramid 3-8-3 >30 minutes. Close Grip Chin Pyramid 2 to 7 to 2 >30 minutes. 105 reps total.

Felt pretty good although its the wider grips I'm hoping to get better at. 118 assorted reps for the day. 1140 so far for January. I am still a little behind rep-wise, but will catch up or exceed schedule over the weekend.

Finally on schedule to complete the 3000 by the 31st.

01/16/2011 Decided to check measurements since we're at the halfway point: Arm(mid-bicep) +1/4" Chest +1" Forearm +1/4" So far, so good. Work was running me ragged today, so I didn't do as much as I would have liked. 10x3 close grip pullups on the top of Rifle Camp Park (They have a beautfiul chin up bar on the mountaintop that overlooks my town.) Came home and did a 3-8-3 pullup pyramid. 30+58=88. At least I'm past the 1/2 way point repwise(1582.)

I took what I thought would be an hour nap and didn't wake up til the next day. :O Luckily I have enough reps "in the bank" that I'm still on schedule for the 3000 by the 31st. Frankly the rest felt great.

I enjoy watching these challenges and group enthusiasms. Since I didn't join, I won't quit so I don't expect any you to quit, either.

I'm still doing roll-outs from Tim's last event. The interest lingers. Thanks, Tim.

This made me move my pull-up tower inside and dabble at it. Thanks again.
